64 Prince Arthur Avenue. Multi Unit Residential. Toronto.
Flanked by two residential towers dating back to the 1960s and an assembly of various building typologies, including single-family dwellings, our approach was to reconcile distinctiveness with the ability to fit into a quieter and establish neighbourhood.
The first eight stories step back at the north side, creating a terraced massing facing the houses and the park. 12-storey slender glass tower rises from the top terrace, closer to the street. Generously proportioned glass panels form an accordion pattern throughout the exterior, generating an appearance of lightness and reflecting a sense of understated luxury. The simple and yet distinctive form allows maximum efficiency, balconies are replaced by flexible year-round solariums, the folded pattern of the exterior creates bay windows and maximizes views.
